What Is Banking Operations?

Banking operations are bank-specific economic activities listed in the Banking Law which involve provision of certain financial services to their recipients (clients of a bank or third parties) against payment and under an agreement concluded with the client.

Banking operations (Ops) serve as a back office function responsible for reconciliation and the execution and settlement of transactions originating in the front office. Trade booking and adherence to risk and regulatory guidelines are important roles of Ops.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, MBA) is a plus.
  • Previous experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform financial modeling, valuation analyses, and industry research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other financial modeling tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, including conducting financial analysis, preparing marketing materials, and facilitating due diligence processes.
  • Support the origination and execution of capital raising activities, such as initial public offerings (IPOs), secondary offerings, and private placements.
  • Conduct industry and company research to identify potential investment opportunities and provide insights to clients.
  • Prepare financial models, valuation analyses, and other presentation materials to support client pitches and transaction execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal advisors, accountants, and regulatory experts, to ensure smooth transaction execution and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of client proposals, pitch books, and other marketing materials to support business development efforts.
  • Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes that may impact client transactions and investment decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of transaction documentation and client communications in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
